Cotopaxy Summit Itinerary

DAY 1. Ascent to Rumiñahui (4,630 m. / 15,190 ft)

We’ll have an early morning departure to Limpiopungo, a beautiful lake in Cotopaxi National Park. Our climb to the top of Rumiñahui will take between 4 to 5 hours; the decent takes about 2 hours.

In the evening, dinner will be served in a cozy Hacienda near Cotopaxi National Park.

Day 2. Ascent to Iliniza Norte (5,126 m. / 16,817 ft)

We leave for the Ilinizas Ecological Reserve early in the morning.

Climbing to the summit will take about 5 hours, and the return to the shelter will take about two hours. Accommodation will be a beautiful, high-altitude Hacienda.

DAY 3. Ascent of Mount Cotopaxi (5,897 m. / 19,347 ft)

We'll start our trip towards Cotopaxi at noon. From the parking area, we'll hike for about an hour before reaching the shelter, where we'll rest to restore our energy for the climb. If necessary, we will hike to the glacier as a small practice. At night an early dinner will be served and then rest.

DAY 4. Cotopaxi Summit

We begin our adventure around midnight. Reaching the summit takes between 5 to 8 hours of hiking through glaciers. The summit of Cotopaxi is a breathtaking and memorable experience. The return to the shelter takes between 3 to 6 hours.
